Guest Book

Below is a small selection of the comments our visitors have left in our guest book since we opened in 2005:

A superb week here in the Loire Valley. Weather has been great and numerous beautiful and historic places visited including Loches, Montrésor, Chinon, and the bustling Amboise. The Château de Chenonceau simply has to be visited – although it’s worth getting there early to avoid the crowds! The Château de Montrésor is well worth a visit and is in a beautiful medieval setting. We all loved the gîte – very comfortable, well equipped and peaceful. Many thanks Mike and Cynthea!    James, John and Cheryl Dray, Dartmoor, England   May 2015

A wonderful week here – thank you so much! We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Loches, Château Chambord, Villandry, Amboise, the model village of châteaux, the aquarium, Montrésor, and Chenonceaux. Lots to see and excellent weather. A lovely house and garden, our daughters enjoyed the swings and playing on the lawn. Sad to leave. Thank you.  Imogen, Jeremy, Agatha and Evelyn;  London   April 2015

We have so enjoyed our week. The kids have loved the pool despite the cooler weather and we have loved the great food and wine of this beautiful region. This is our second visit to this beautiful gîte and we hope to return again. The sun has shone the last couple of days and we have really enjoyed relaxing mornings at the markets and afternoons by the pool. Chinon and Amboise were a great day out. The market at Ste Maure was lovely too. Sunday market at Descartes is also a great start to the food experience we enjoyed all week! Thank you Mike and Cynthea.   Steve, Charlotte, Bella and Teddy; Osmotheley,North Yorkshire   August 2014

Thank you for a lovely well equipped gîte, much bigger than it appears in the pictures. Enjoyed the region especially the sunflower fields which have been out in full bloom, and of course the wine! Loved wandering around the area and lazing by the pool. Thank you    Jo, Andrew, Emma and Laura; Somerset UK / Australia   July 2014

One of the best equipped and most comfortable gites we have stayed in during our 25+ years of visiting France. This area of Touraine is one of our favourites and so we have spent the 2 weeks in revisiting many well remembered Chateaux and villages, as well as finding a few “new” places to add to our happy memories. The weather has been a little mixed – hot and sunny on arrival for a couple of days, then cool and windy, but is now warming up and getting hot again. Combined with the peace and the tranquility here at La Grange, this has made for a wonderful holiday and we are sad to have to return to “real life” again shortly.   Lynn and Geoff, Cheshire, June 2014

Field of Sunflowers next to the gite

Field of Sunflowers next to the gite.

We enjoyed our holiday, we hope you do too
For there's so much to see, and plenty to do

Chateau Chenonceau is a great place to go
Including the gardens, we loved them so

Chateau de Clos Luc, Leonardo de Vinci's park
Also worth a visit before it gets dark

Amboise, Langeais, Montrichard and including Montresor
Are pretty little towns, all worth an explore

There's Loches market on Wednesdays and Saturdays too
But a visit to Logis Royal and the dungeons is simply a must to do

Local walks around Bournan or cycling afar
The choice is yours, or just take the car

And of course there's the pool for a swim or a dip
Relaxing and reading to unwind on your trip

The sunsets are glorious, different each night
We're glad we chose this place, for us it was just right!

We were once more delighted to return to La Grange des Hirondelles. Everything was perfect - except the weather and that was out of your control. We enjoyed several places we have not visited before - Angles-sur-l'Anglin and the abbey at St Sverin - your recommendations - and also the Chateau Balzac. The exquisite cathedral in Tours is a fine experience each time we see it. We hope to return - and should you ever make the long trip to Hawaii, we would be p;leased to welcome you in our "gite". Warm Aloha.  Wanda and Dick Porter, Hawaii USA, June 2013

Another fantastic holiday staying in the gite - our 3rd visit.  Totally relaxing!  So much to see that we have booked for 2013 already.  Cynthea and Mike are the perfect hosts and the overall experience of staying here is superb.  See you next year. Pam and Dave (South Wales),  September 2012

Another fabulous holiday at "La Grange des Hirondelles. The weather wasnt as good this year as last, but we have still made the most of it with the kids using the pool quite a bit. Still think this accommodation would be very hard to beat, as would Mike and Cyntheas welcome. Have visited Blois, Villandry, Montrésor, Loches, Tours and the Pagode de Chanteloup - a little bizarre but the children loved all the games they could play in the gardens. All the very best and we aren't ruling out another visit in the future if you can put up with us a 3rd time!  Dave, Linda, Matthew (9), Thomas (7) and Sarah (7); Belfast, July 2011

Perfect gite, perfect weather, perfect holiday. As a regular visitor to France for holidays, and as a "fussy so and so", I can honestly say this is one of the best gîtes we have stayed in. Spacious, clean, and very well equipped. The pool was also great, especially when it got hot. The surrounding area has so much to offer it's difficult to pick a favourite, but our (long!) trip to Cheverny was worth it, especially if you like Tin - Tin. The market at Ste Maure is also worth it. Thank you Mike and Cynthea for a very enjoyable week. Marian, Carew, Emily, and James Satchwell; S Yorks, August 2010

Thank you so much for the stay in your gite - it really is fantastic. It was wonderful to arrive somewhere that lived up to expectations, and we really appreciate all you did to make us feel "at home". Cynthea, this includes your delicious cooking, which allowed us to "dine out" whilst "staying in " and babysitting. The gite is in such a beautiful setting and there is so much to do in the area. We particularly enjoyed Descartes, Chinon, Loches, Azay-le-Rideau, and the "Boucles Bournan". This is a great place to stay for two weeks and it is a shame to be going home! We'll look back at our stay with fond memories!  Harriet, Geoff and Phoebe; September 2009
